Earlier this month I was privileged to host an event in Mermaid Beach with a focus on mental wellbeing. This is a cause close to my heart, and I was pleased to be able to donate all profits from the event to Australian non-profit mental health organisation LIVIN.
LIVIN was founded by Casey Lyons and Sam Webb, in memory of friend Dwayne Lally, who took his life after experiencing mental illness in silence. LIVIN emphasises the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness, and encourages individuals to take preventative action and seek help before things become unmanageble.
With this in mind, the focus of this event was to provide the community with tools they can use to better manage stress, and improve their mental wellbeing. We all lead busy lives, and can often become overwhelmed with stress, but it is important to remember to slow down and look after our mental health. We began the morning with a beautiful yoga flow, followed by breathwork, sound bath meditation and finished with an ice bath with live music!
These are all tools I use in order to manage my stress levels and take care of my mental wellbeing. I encourage you to have a ‘toolkit’ of resources/practices you can draw on in order to look after your mental health.
