I was invited to a dinner party the other night to celebrate the new moon and spring equinox and as a part of the festivities we were all asked to take a moment to read out a list of things we were grateful for and what we were going to focus on in the coming year.
The common themes were ensuring that in our lifetime in any relationship, friendship or encounters with another human being that if we all create a sacred safe place for everyone to be themselves and give love to the world then the world would be a happy place and people would blossom to their true self.
It was such raw and honest conversation where everyone shared their thoughts openly. I felt very blessed to be in such a beautiful environment with such love and gratitude to feel safe to express myself without the fear of judgement.
It got me thinking that not everyone lives their life like this and we need to surround ourselves with people who inspire, motivate and encourage us to be the ultimate versions of themselves.
One of my favourite quotes by Jim Rohn is “You are the average of the 5 people that you surround yourself with”. So if you are hanging around with people who bring you down, are judgemental and don’t offer a safe place for you to be you then those are the types of experiences that you will bring into your life. At Glow for Life we call this our ‘Group of Greatness.’
Don’t be afraid to end relationships and friendships that aren’t serving you well as sometimes we outgrow people. It’s not to say that we haven’t shared amazing experiences with these people and that they haven’t been significant to us in some way, it just means that we aren’t on the same journey anymore and it may be better for your personal health and wellbeing to part ways so you can flourish.
An amazing friend of mine brought this beautiful quote to my attention “People come into your life for a reason, season or a lifetime.” It’s definitely a sentiment to consider. Have a look at who is currently in your Group of Greatness to ensure that you blossom and GLOW to the maximum!
