What if 90 seconds could completely change your mindset? What if 90 seconds could make or break your day? Today we are exploring one tiny 90 second rule that can completely change your life if you put it into practice.
At GLOW we are very big fans of Tim Ferriss and his approach productivity and his philosophy about being the best version of yourself. When I saw he had the world's most famous performance coach, Tony Robbins on his latest podcast I was intrigued by the title ‘Tony Robbins – On Achievement Versus Fulfillment’. Having only been exposed to small doses of Tony Robbins before I wanted to know what all the fuss was about but it was his 90 second rule that I found most intriguing.
This podcast left me wanting to know more about Tony Robbins. This lead to me to a documentary currently on Netflix about Tony called, ‘I am Not Your Guru’ which left me wondering, is Tony a modern day prophet? Granted he makes billions of dollars each year from his seminars and books, but you get the impression he really does want to change the human race and turn people into the best possible versions of themselves.
So back to this magical 90 second rule with the ability to change everything. Tony believes we live in one of two states of mind. Suffering or a beautiful state of being. His spiritual vision is to empower as many people as possible to spend their lives in this beautiful state. How?
He does this by only letting things outside of his control, or “preferences”, bother him for a maximum of 90 seconds and then he moves on. Yet again this sounds too good to be true, but why not? Why can’t it work? Tony later in the podcast challenged listeners to try it for 10 days and see if their lives changed.
Challenge accepted. Here I go. Day 1 of not letting things outside of my control bother me for more than 90 seconds. Timer. Starts. Now.
